I began my career in motorsport as a teen racing stock cars on the dirt tracks of Texas. I have competed in Time Trials events with SCCA and NASA, having won a SCCA Regional TT Championship in 2018. I currently hold class track records at Circuit of The Americas, Eagles Canyon Raceway, MSR Cresson, and Texas World Speedway. My road racing and autocross experience includes competing in WRL, SCCA, NASA, PCA, BMW CCA, and others. 2022 marks my 20th year in motorsport, most of that time has been dedicated to team ownership and team management. As a team owner I have overseen virtually every aspect of my team’s operations and as a result have developed a broad range of skills that will allow me to provide a diverse range of services to my clients that extend beyond coaching and include scheduling, logistics, management, parts and car acquisitions, and more. At the armature level I have overseen countless victories as a driver, team owner, strategist, coach, and manager, and at the professional level Matt Young Motorsports has amassed 6 victories wile competing in Indy Lights, SRO, Trans Am, and IMSA dating back to 2004. We also have 2 Touring Car championship runner’s up finishes in SRO, and 15 professional podium finishes.

I have worked as an instructor with SCCA, NASA, Chin Track Days, Edge Addicts, and Longhorn Racing Academy. I have been a private coach since 2016 and have helped clients reach the top rung of sportscar racing in America seeing them race in IMSA, SRO, and Trans Am. My approach as a coach is extremely data driven, I encourage all of my clients to have a data acquisition and video system onboard that allow us to do analysis debriefs between on-track sessions at track, as well as deeper dives in follow-up sessions. I am very familiar with AIM, but also have experience with Motec, Bosh, Pi Sigma (Cosworth), Apex Pro, and Garmin. I spend the majority of your track time observing from various high sightline points of the track, taking notes to accompany our data review as well as your feedback in each debrief. I offer spotting/radio coaching as a part of my services if clients have radio capabilities. I am looking forward to working with you and helping you to reach your on track goals!
