Juan R. Marchand (JR) has been a part of GingerMan Raceway since 1997, launching his motorsports career after graduating from Western Michigan University. Living at the track in 2002, he honed his driving and mechanical skills, culminating in a Formula Mazda SCCA National Championship win in 2009 and multiple RunOffs podiums. 

In 2010, JR helped design GingerMan’s track extension—realizing a lifelong dream. Originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, he’s fluent in English and Spanish, with a working understanding of Italian. 

With over a decade of driver coaching experience, JR offers expert 1-on-1 and group instruction, combining data analysis, video, and in-car techniques to help drivers improve performance and confidence—both on track and in car setup. 

Bob Ashley is GingerMan Raceway’s resident instructor and racing enthusiast, with over 25,000 laps driven on Michigan’s safest track. He’s coached drivers of all levels—helping them become safer, faster, and more confident behind the wheel. 

New to the track? Bob can guide you through car control, weather conditions, tire grip, and the unique flow of each corner and straight. 

Pro Tip: Before your session, review the GingerMan website for track layout, flag rules, and etiquette—all of which are also covered in the mandatory driver’s meeting.

Chris Post has been a trusted instructor at GingerMan Raceway for over 15 years, helping hundreds of drivers—from complete beginners to advanced racers—develop their skills and confidence on track. 

Trained with renowned coach Ross Bentley, Chris tailors his instruction to each driver’s needs, setting clear goals, building trust, and fine-tuning both driving technique and car setup. Whether you’re just learning flags and the blend line or chasing tenths with data analysis, Chris brings the right approach. 

With a strong background in Physics, Math, and Economics, Chris helps drivers go faster, lower lap times, and improve efficiently. A lifelong educator by profession, he knows how to teach—and it shows. Comfortable with any vehicle or platform, Chris is ready to help you get the most out of your track experience. 

Brad Pines is the Chief Instructor at CGI Motorsports, the official driving school of GingerMan Raceway. A seasoned coach with over 20 years of experience, Brad has instructed at more than 50 tracks nationwide—but his roots run deep at GingerMan, where he first drove in 1995 and competed in its inaugural race in 1996. 

Brad specializes in making complex driving concepts easy to understand and tailors his coaching to all skill levels—from first-timers to competitive racers. He’s driven everything from Miatas to McLarens and is equally skilled behind the wheel or in the passenger seat. 

In addition to private instruction, Brad has led numerous group events, trained automotive journalists, and created custom experiences for car clubs and corporate teams. With a background in media, he also offers support in automotive writing, photography, and video, and has worked as a pro driver for brands like BMW, Alfa Romeo, and Dodge.
